- Abstract
Objective To explore the efficacy of partial resection of the depressor anguli oris on the healthy side to balance bilateral muscle strength in the improvement of asymmetric crying facies. Methods From October 2020 to October 2021, 4 patients with asymmetric crying facies were treated by partial resection of depressor anguli oris on the healthy side to balance bilateral muscle strength. Postoperative complications were observed and patient satisfaction was evaluated. Results No complications such as hematoma, infection, flap necrosis and scar hyperplasia occurred. The lip morphology and activity were significantly improved after operation. Four patients were followed up for 1 to 12 months. Three patients were very satisfied and 1 patient was dissatisfied with the postoperative improvement. This patient was satisfied with the efficacy after two times of repair. Conclusion Partial resection of depressor anguli oris on the healthy side to balance bilateral muscle strength is a simple and effective method. It should be considerable for clinical promotion and application.
