- Abstract
The purpose of this study was to set up athermal imaging health management system of dairy cows, including infrared thermal imaging cameras, transmission equipment and operating software, integrating eye socket images and temperature information to conduct health management of whether cows have fever. There were 30-40 milking cows (wearing RFID tags) in this trial. At the height of 2.2 m above the entrance of the milking passageway 1 dual-lens infrared thermal image camera was installed, with a resolution of 384 x 288 pixels, and a temperature measurement range of -20°C to +150°C. zAnother visible light lens was used to identify the eye socket of individual cow, and the thermal camera lens was focus to detect the temperature of the eye socket automatically and recorded the temperature information in the computer for 12 months. When the temperature of the cows exceeds the threshold, tiie red warning light will light up immediately. The results showed that the average thermal image temperature of eye sockets (healthy cows) was 36.1±1.8°C (n=10,680), and the average thermal image temperature of eye sockets (cows with fever) was 39.5±0.6°C (n=26). From these results showed that using themial imaging technology to monitor the health of dairy cows has great potential for dairy industry in the future.
