- Abstract
Poetry has often been neglected from a world literature perspective, based on the assumption that the linguistic intricacy of poetry makes this cluster of genres more local, inclusive and even untranslatable than global. This basic assumption and this moment in literary history are Edmond's starting points, and from them he unfolds his innovative analyses of poetry, which are far from a result of copying. This aspect would also have recalled Søren Kierkegaard who in his book on memory, called I Repetition i (1843), claimed that 'The dialectics of repetition is easy; what is being repeated, has been, otherwise it could not be repeated, but precisely the fact that is has been, turns the repetition into the new'.
