- Abstract
The article discusses a study of the association between body weight and abdominal circumference (AC) on the prevalence and proximal extent of reflux (PER) in gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). 95 GERD patients were recruited for the study and underwent 24-hour impedance-pH monitoring to assess body mass index (BMI) and AC. The authors found that there was a correlation between BMI and PER in patients off proton pump inhibitors (PPI) and a correlation between AC and PER in patients on PPI.
