- Abstract
Hydrogen peroxide is a biocide that has been used for disinfection and sterilization extensively. This solution is used in endodontics to irrigate the root canal system as well as to bleach teeth. The purpose of this paper was to review history, structure, physical properties, antibacterial activity and biocompatibility of hydrogen peroxide. Furthermore, its efficacy in tooth bleaching, its combination with chlorhexidine as a root canal irrigant and its effect on dentin bonding was reviewed.
