- Abstract
Unipolar intracardiac impedance was measured for more than 22 hours in 10 patients treated for bradycardia by a pacemaker and transmitted to a holter-monitoring device. The measurement provides the change of impedance within about 50..300ms after the ventricular contraction. From the change of impedance several parameters were extracted and the time-course of the parameters over the total measurement time was analyzed with regard to the circadian variation of the parameters. In order to characterize the circadian variation, two different mathematical methods were applied. In the first place, a tool called "single cosinor analysis" has become widely acknowledged to calculate the amplitude of the circadian peak-valley distance. Moreover, histograms of parameters were calculated to analyze simple statistical differences between day- and night-time.
