- Abstract
This article discusses the adverse events and the effect of oxygen therapy on stable-treated patients with pulmonary vascular disease (PVD) who are exposed to high altitude. The study involved investigating PVD patients at low altitude and high altitude during a 30-hour overnight stay. The main outcomes measured were severe hypoxemia, acute mountain sickness, and the therapeutic effect of supplemental oxygen therapy. The results showed that some patients experienced adverse events at high altitude, primarily severe hypoxemia, which was effectively treated with supplemental oxygen therapy. The study suggests that stable, low-risk PVD patients can tolerate short-term stays at high altitude but may require supplemental oxygen therapy in certain cases.
