- Authors

- Abstract
This article explores the importance of using reliable and valid measures of pain intensity when evaluating pain treatments and providing optimal care. It discusses commonly used pain intensity measures, such as the visual analogue scale, numerical rating scale, verbal rating scale, and faces pain scale - revised. The article presents findings from two studies that examine the strengths and weaknesses of these scales and raises important questions for researchers and clinicians to consider when selecting a pain intensity measure. It emphasizes the need for further research to determine the best measures for different populations and provides valuable insights for selecting appropriate measures in specific settings and populations.
