- Abstract
The article looks at the U.S. Religious Land Use and Institutionalized Persons Act of 2000 and discusses its application to local land use decisions in the country. Topic discussed include the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in the Court's holding in "Employment Division, Department of Human Resources of Oregon v. Smith" involving laws related to free exercise of religion; and opinion of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the first district in "Roman Catholic Bishop v. City of Springfield" case.
