- Abstract
Society is regulated by patriarchy values, which are reflected not only in the social expectations of motor performance of girls and boys, but also in gender differentials sporting rules(Pollack, 2000; Rudman & Glick, 2008; Wood, 2011; Labov, 1972; Weiss & Sachs, 1991 in Catela et al, 2012). The present study aims to analyze the success of hits in volleyball in female athletes, with the net attached to two different heights, the height defined for their gender (2.24 m) and male gender (2.35 m), for the correspondent rank (FederaçãoInternacional de Voleibol, 2009).In this way we pretend understand if this normative difference between genres is adequate or necessary. The sample was composed by 8 girls(14,62 ± 1,63 years) with equal practice experience, the task consisted of three tests of hits the net in each height studied. We didn't verify significant differences in the success of hits between the two heights, however it was observed an evolution in the effectiveness of hits throughout the trials (ns). So, we question if the difference between heights for genres in these rank of competition is really needed. We propose cinematic analysis for testing if the higher network provides a better technical execution. (cf., Michaels &Carello, 1981 in Santos, 2012).
