- Abstract
In this study the effect of breed in milk drinking behavior from bucket of calves was investigated. Twenty-four Brown Swiss (15鞔, 9 ♀) and twentyHolsteinFriesian (13鞔, 7♀) breed calves were used in research. The calves were weaned at 35 days of age that were monitored of the body weights, body measurements and behavioural traits during the experimental period. The milk drink duration of Brown Swiss calves from the bucket was longer than Holstein Friesian and males have longer drink duration than females. Taken as covariate variable the a mount of milkand its effect was not significant. The behaviour of a pause and the number of the day the calves need to have help to drink and find milk bucket was also significantly (P < 0.01) affected by breed and this value was in Brown Swiss breed higher than Hotstein Friesian. There were significantly positive correlation between of milk drinking duration and the number of pause during drinking (r = 0.74). Add itionally there was negative correlation between the milkdrin king duration and number of milk drinking pause with weaning weight, 6. months weight, daily weight gains before weaning, daily weight gains after weaning. The re suits of present study indicated that differences were found between breed in characteristics of milk drinking behaviour from the bucket and there were negative correlation growth and this behaviour traits of calves.
