- Abstract
A meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the outcomes of pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM) embolization and the factors associated with these outcomes. The analysis included 56 studies with a total of 2002 patients. The overall immediate technical success rate for PAVM embolization was 98%, and the treatment success rate was 86%. Factors associated with higher treatment success included younger age, simple PAVM, and the use of plugs as the primary embolization agent. The type of embolization agent used did not significantly affect recanalization rates. This meta-analysis demonstrates that PAVM embolization is safe and effective.
