- Abstract
The article focuses on the full utilization of women in employment and further discusses problems and action programs related to women employees. There has been an historical tendency for women to concentrate in low-paying jobs. One fourth of all working women are presently employed in five occupations, they are, secretary-stenographer, household worker, elementary school teacher, bookkeeper and waitress. Career planning approach is a longer-term solution. The shorter term progress will come through action programs initiated by business firms, government agencies and other organizations. The action plan checklist highlights the necessary steps in any action plan and suggest what are, at least initially, the important priorities. As legislative remedies and pressures from liberation groups increase, a movement toward more complete use of women in work organizations will be seen. According to the author, progress to this goal can be achieved by active and energetic administrators who look at the total system effects of their activities and who use some form of organized checklist for effective action.
