- Abstract
This article reports the first occurrence of powdery mildew caused by Erysiphe deutziae on Deutzia parviflora in Korea. The disease was observed on approximately 300 D. parviflora shrubs in a public garden in Wanju, Korea, during the summer and autumn of 2022. The disease incidence was nearly 100%, but the severity was less than 5%. The characteristics of the infection were consistent with Erysiphe deutziae, and the nucleotide sequences of the rDNA gene confirmed the identity of the fungus. This is the first report of E. deutziae on D. parviflora in Korea. The research was supported by the Korea Institute of Planning and Evaluation for Technology in Food, Agriculture, and Forestry.
