- Abstract
The article compares the lawyer's duty of confidentiality and the attorney-client privilege in the U.S. and China. It examines the People's Republic of China laws to explore the Chinese lawyer's ethical obligation of confidentiality. It depicts absence of an attorney-client privilege doctrine in China that develops many challenges for Chinese lawyers and other foreign lawyers in China and weakens the client-lawyer relationship.
