- Abstract
Infectious risk associated with cares is well assessed within hospitals, but no studies have examined the infectious risk of general practitioners. The main objective of this study was to describe the prevalence of exposure to infectious risk in day care for general practitioners. Method. Observational study, transversal, multicentric, ancillary ECOGEN project (01/11/2011 - 30/04/ 2012). The data was collected by 54 interns with 128 general practitioners. Results. The general practitioners were exposed at an infectious risk in 5 122 (24.9%) of the 20 613 consultations analyzed. These were mainly acute upper and lower respiratory tract infections (16%), acute gastroenteritis (3%), influenza-like illness (1%). There was no significant difference between the exercise environment, the mode of exercise, or the volume of activity. In conclusion, general practitioners are exposed at risk of infection in one out of four consultations.
