- Abstract
One hundred and fifty six soybean accessions were identified for their reactions to 13 pathotypes of Phytophthora sojae using hypoeotyl inoculation technique in greenhouse. 31 accessions were found susceptible to all 13 pathotypes, whereas 125 were resistant to one or more pathotypes, and these resistance accessions elicited 90 different reaction types. Phytophthora resistance genes in the resistance accessions were postulated by comparing the reaction types of differential soybean cultivars or lines possessing known as single phytophthora resistance gene. Five reaction types occurred in 9 accessions were consistent with the reaction types of a single gene, while 5 reaction types produced by 12 accessions were consistent with two - gene combinations. Eighty reaction types elicited by 104 accessions could be novel reaction types.
