- Abstract
For PH SB 3 sb , containing three equivalent SP 1 sp H atoms with nuclear spin I I i = ½, a binomial quartet with intensity ratios of 1:3:3:1 is observed in the SP 31 sp P NMR spectrum (Fig. Dividing the SP 1 sp I J i SB P-H sb coupling constant in PH SB 3 sb by this ratio gives a predicted SP 1 sp I J i SB P-D sb coupling constant of SP 1 sp I J i SB P-D sb = 28.8 Hz for PD SB 3 sb which compares well with the experimentally measured value of 29.3 Hz [[2]]. Given that the SP 1 sp I J i SB P-H sb coupling constant in PH SB 3 sb is SP 1 sp I J i SB P-H sb = 187.8 Hz, the SP 1 sp I J i SB P-D sb coupling constant in PD SB 3 sb can be obtained.
