- Abstract
The importance of cultural/language scale validations is usually undervalued, and the authors are to be congratulated on their analysis of the VSI in a population distinct from the one targeted in the original validation (USA). Outside of the present work, IAT has served as consultant for Pfizer Inc. CM has received speaker fees from Kyowa Kirin, Norgine, Biocodex, Mayoly spindler, Tillots, and Ipsen, and has served as Advisory Board member for Kyowa Kirin. In their paper "Anxiety-related factors associated with symptom severity in irritable bowel syndrome",1 Black et al. have analyzed the factorial structure of the Visceral Sensitivity Index (VSI),2 a well-known and widely used measure of gastrointestinal (GI)-specific anxiety, in an irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) sample from the UK.
