- Abstract
The article presents a study that investigates consciousness after severe brain injury using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). It cites the case of a 20-year-old woman who sustained a traumatic brain injury after a traffic accident. It measures the patient's brain responses for receptive language processing and voluntary mental activity via fMRI. It notes the result of the study, which indicates that the patient cooperated with instructions throughout the process.
