- Abstract
The article reviewed the association between antenatal corticosteroids (ACS) for pregnancy and the risk of serious infection. The study limitations should acknowledge the lack of adjustment for income levels of countries, which can influence factors associated with ACS and the rate and severity of infection. The risk of serious infection induced by ACS occurs in both pregnant mothers and infants, but the authors mainly focus on infant infection. The study also includes full-term pregnancies, even though ACS has no improvement in lung function at full term and can have detrimental effects on infants. The study suggests incorporating resource levels, evaluating serious infection in mothers, and analyzing ACS usage on full-term infants for a deeper understanding of ACS and its associated infections.
