- Abstract
Cerebral Palsy (PC), in Brazil present there are 30,000 to 40,000 new cases each year. The CP affects the central nervous system, and the dysfunction is predominantly allied to the sensorimotor part, with disturbances of muscle tone, posture and involuntary movement. Thus, the purpose of this study was to evaluate the area of social function in patients with cerebral palsy who were included in a program of aquatic physical activities, adopting the Pediatric Assessment of Dysfunction Inventory (PEDI). Teaching learning activities such as solving small problems. Twenty-five Cerebral Paralyzed children, in their predominantly spastic and athetosis manifestations, ranging from four years and three months to six years and eight months, were evaluated. The evaluation of the social function was used in relation to adult care and its improvement before and after the practice of aquatic physical exercises. The Pediatric Evaluation Disability Inventory (PEDI) was used in the social function part. Questions about laterality and color were still adopted by verifying children's responses. There were significant improvements in the social function part in the students who were submitted to aquatic physical activities, and the number of responses were also better. The results found in the study, infer tendencies in the sense that the practice of aquatic physical exercises tend to improve motor, with consequent improvement in social function, and in learning.
