- Authors
Moyer, Robert; Naczi, Robert
- Abstract
Rhynchospora leptocarpa (Slender-fruit Beaksedge, Cyperaceae) has recently been discovered existing in the Pine Barren region of southern New Jersey, and is now documented from six regional populations. Information substantiating this find and a key differentiating other local Rhynchospora species is provided, in addition to a species description and notes on floristic composition, habitat, associated species, current range, and current status. Further discussion highlights historical collections originally misidentified and deposited in herbaria. The biogeographic significance of R. leptocarpa in New Jersey is also discussed.
