EP21.25: Pregnancy implanted on Caesarean scar: diagnosis and management.
- Authors
Ghades, S.; Fatnassi, M.
- Abstract
This article discusses the diagnosis and management of scar pregnancies, which occur when a fertilized egg implants into the uterine muscle or scar tissue from a previous Caesarean section. Scar pregnancies are high-risk and can have life-threatening complications. The study, conducted over a four-year period, included 12 cases and found that endovaginal ultrasound coupled with the suprapubic route was an effective diagnostic tool. Methotrexate was the chosen treatment option in most cases, with some patients undergoing aspiration or hysterectomy. The study emphasizes the importance of early diagnosis and seeking care from experienced healthcare teams.
