- Abstract
This article, titled "EP09.07: Impact of sample volume position in calculating fetal cardiac output," explores the effect of the position of the sample volume on the calculation of fetal cardiac output. The study involved 34 patients with normal fetal hearts, and the velocity time integral (VTI) of the aortic and pulmonary valves was recorded with the sample volume positioned either on the valve or distal to the valve. The results showed that the position of the sample volume had a significant impact on the cardiac output, with the group that had the sample volume distal to the valve showing higher cardiac output. The study suggests that measuring cardiac output with the sample volume on the valve may provide more accurate results.
