- Abstract
The article discusses the 60-year history of the Institute of Human Genetics at the Medical University of Innsbruck and provides insights into the future of genomic medicine. The institute celebrated its anniversary with a series of presentations on the development of the institute and current research topics in human genetics. The event also included a forum where different areas and focuses of the institute were showcased. The article highlights the contributions of women in genetics and emphasizes the importance of genetics in precision therapies, particularly in oncology. It also discusses ongoing research on lipoprotein(a) and multifactorial disorders. The article concludes with a discussion on the challenges and future directions of medical genetics in Austria.
