- Abstract
The article focuses on the symmetrical peripheral gangrene (SPG), a rare clinical syndrome that has been the leading cause of morbidity and mortality and often requires multiple limb amputations among survivors. It highlights the roles of dermatologists in recognizing the condition and in identifying such from other forms of gangrene. Medical, general and surgical management of the condition are also outlined including the reduction of vasopressors and the application of topical nitroglycerine.
