- Abstract
The article presents a profile for Gertrude Marian Young, the president of the National Council for Elementary Science. Young was born in Montana on March 6, 1907. She has earned a professional diploma and three degrees from the Teachers Colleges in Columbia University which include a Bachelor of Science in 1937, a Master of Arts degree in 1940, a Doctor in Education in 1952 and a professional diploma in 1948. The doctoral study that she has taken was entitled "Children's Science Experiences for Improved Living." She also authored several publications and writings which include "Children's Science Experiences for Improved Living", "Science Experiences Afford Opportunity: Work on Significant Problems," "What Science Means to Children" and "Better Living."
