- Title
Class III elastics: Vertical vectors can be our allies.

- Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Class III elastics are excellent tools in compensatory treatments for this type of malocclusion, however, in addition to the horizontal forces that cause the sagittal correction of the problem, other vectors can lead to undesirable effects in certain cases, for instance: the extrusion of the maxillary posterior and mandibular anterior teeth. An important point in such cases is to understand when these extrusive movements are really negative, and when they may be desirable. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this article is to describe treatment protocols with Class III elastics and how the vertical effects of these elastics, when properly indicated, can help to obtain faster, safer and more assertive mechanics.
