- Authors
Pyle-Eilola, Amy L.; Thornton, David J.; Hays, Hannah L.; Casavant, Marcel J.
- Abstract
The article describes the case of a three-month-old male with a negative qualitative opioid result on a urine drug screen using routine cutoff but a positive confirmation for heroin. Topics discussed include how the urine drug screen was performed, potential of illicit drug exposure for serious ramifications, and the need to report drug screen results below the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) cutoffs for medical cases, especially in pediatrics.
