- Abstract
With regard to the physiology of aging, it should be said that the human body undergoes a continuous and predictable process associated with the increase of physical vulnerabilities. Therefore, with regard to health promotion, the changes related to aging require a keen clinical look at the physiological and pathological changes that are tangent to this process. As for the damage to bone tissue, with osteoporosis as a highlight, it is known that this pathology is a chronic disease characterized by reduction of bone mass coupled with quantitative and qualitative damage to the skeletal microstructure. The bones most affected by OP-related fractures are: distal forearm (30%), femur (12%), humerus (8%), ribs (6%), and vertebra (4%). Knowledge about the physiopathological and clinical aspects of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis is able to guide more concise and assertive medical practices. Thus, better prognoses in the therapeutic conduct of patients affected by this condition are likely to be achieved.
