- Abstract
Despite technological advances in the health field, especially in the areas of diagnosis and treatment, tuberculosis is still a major public health problem, and health promotion and education actions are essential as a strategy for changing this scenario. The aim of this report was to describe activities to promote health education on tuberculosis for elementary school students. This is a descriptive study, of the experience report type, of the teaching-learning process of medical students, using pedagogy by problematizing the territory, promoting actions to raise awareness and prevent tuberculosis. The actions were planned and carried out based on Strategic Situational Planning, in the form of an intervention project, in which a short film and a poster were developed, featuring an adaptation of a children's story for better understanding by the target audience, as well as a round table discussion to answer questions and disseminate more information. By carrying out the health promotion actions, it was possible to achieve the objectives proposed by the Strategic Situational Planning, as well as getting closer to humanized care, which are positive aspects for medical students. In addition, the process of health education for children in elementary school enabled knowledge about tuberculosis to be consolidated and disseminated.
