- Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of different types of rice production and their intensities on atmospheric pollution and the morphological characteristics of specific particulate matters in farmland and surrounding areas, the PM2.5 and PM10 concentrations in the experimental field of Huazhong Agricultural University were analyzed, and the morphological changes, elemental composition, water-soluble ions and mineral composition characteristics of PM2.5 and PM10 emitted from three agricultural activities (rice harvesting, tillage, biomass burning) in autumn were also compared. The results showed that the daily average concentration of PM2.5 in the experimental field was winter > spring > autumn > summer. The concentration of particulate matter (mainly PM2.5) emitted by biomass burning per unit time is the highest of the three typical agricultural activities. The particles produced by rice harvesting are composed of plant debris and dustfall with a smooth surface. The particles produced by tillage are mainly soil minerals containing Si, Al, Fe, and Ti. This study explored the emission characteristics of primary elements and ions in PM2.5 and PM10 produced by rice production, which can support mitigating agricultural non-point source pollution.
