- Abstract
Road maintenance efforts, especially national roads, have a high complexity because they involve a lot of manpower, cost, equipment, and a fairly long time. Speed of handling is needed because often efforts to repair the damage can disrupt traffic around for a long time. In addition, to find out the repair technique to be used, the relevant agencies must coordinate beforehand so that often efforts to handle the maintenance of the national road network take a long time. An expert system for diagnosing road damage is an alternative to developing an intelligent system to provide an early diagnosis of road damage. The purpose of this study is to develop an expert system for detecting road damage using forward chaining techniques in the early detection of road damage. The forward-chaining technique begins by tracing the appropriate characteristics of the user's response until the conclusion of the right type of road damage is found. Based on the research results, this expert system has been successfully implemented on a limited basis on flexible pavements. This system can also provide early detection of the type of road damage so that it can be used as an alternative to expert advice in the flexible pavement repair model. The accuracy of the system is about 60% which is obtained after 10 trials and then confirmed to the road pavement expert.
