- Abstract
Objective: To study the clinical efficacy and safety of salvia miltiorrhiza polyphenolate combined with sodium valproate for post-stroke epilepsy. Methods: Selected 80 patients with post-stroke epilepsy who were treated in Jiangbei Campus, Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University from January 2016 to April 2019, divided into the two groups randomly. In the control group,40 patients with post-stroke epilepsy were treated with sodium valproate alone, and 40 patients with post-stroke epilepsy in the observation group were treated with salvia miltiorrhiza polyphenolate and sodium valproate. Comparison of EEG findings and outcomes of epileptic symptoms after treatment in both groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(97.50 % vs. 80 %, P<0.05). The number of involved leads, epileptiform discharge, duration of seizures, number of seizures, and in serum neuron specific enolase(NSE) levelsin the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05). And the above indicators in the observation group were significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of sleepiness, rash, headache, abnormal sensation and nausea and vomiting between the two groups(P>0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of Danshen polyphenolate combined with sodium valproate for injection is better than the treatment with sodium valproate alone, which can control epileptic symptoms more effectively and has higher safety.
