- Abstract
The idea of nationalism appeared in Europe toward the end of the 19th century together with the industrial revolution in the modern age. The Turks who give great importance to their culture and history were affected deeply by the influence of nationalism which became more widespread in the Republican period. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the Founder of the Turkish Republic, adopted nationalism as an ideal. He always emphasized the importance of Turkish nationalism and the determination of independent living especially during the national struggle period. The Republic and revolutions which were established on the basis of that national consciousness were positioned according to the foundation of nationalism. The essence of that foundation is to carry the Turkish nation to the modern and national civilization level in the world civilization. The purpose of the study is to evaluate the idea of nationalism which is the basic of Ataturk's thoughts from a political, historical and administrative aspect and to examine its effects on the Turkish management system during the foundation of the Turkish Rebublic.
