- Abstract
Pitted keratolysis is very frequent in tropical countries. A mass examination of industrial workers in Korea in 1981, detected many cases of pitted keratolysis. It was specially prevalent in a zinc refinery where the workers wore rubber shoes. It suggested that rubber shoes may be an important factor in the development of pitted keratolysis, probably due to retention of sweat. Further examination of a coal mine where average temperature remains 20-25 degree centigrade also revealed the cases of keratolysis.
