- Abstract
The article presents an assessment of two dental health and education programmes for the Scottish secondary school children. The aim of the project was to measure over a period of two years the separate benefits of a mobile surgery-based and school-based preventive programme for controlling dental caries and periodontal disease in children initially aged 12 years. Both preventive programmes were evaluated in terms of their resource utilization. The majority of children in this study were aware that they should brush their teeth at least twice a day. Both programmes successfully improved gingival health.
