- Abstract
While prematurity is a well-established risk factor for low lung function in adulthood, the long-term impact of being born SGA at term on adult health is not well understood. Methods A perinatal cohort study including 61 adults (30-40 years-old) born SGA (birthweight below 10th centile) and 66 adults with normal birthweight (controls). The association between being born too early (prematurity) or too small (small for gestational age, SGA) and adult diseases has long been recognised.
