- Title
Dogma and Freedom.
- Authors
Hughes, Robert D.
- Abstract
This article argues that openly embracing the concept of dogma, and acknowledging the truth of the two great catholic dogmas of the Nicene Creed, are both a source of tremendous freedom and a structure for living in charity amidst our current brokenness. If the creedal dogmas of the Trinity and the Incarnation are accepted as the regulative grammar of the Christian conversation, an immense space offreedom is opened up where important, but not fundamental, questions such as human sexuality can be discussed.
