- Title
The Story Behind the Sharp Decline in US Tanning Bed Rates.
- Authors
Geller, Alan C.
- Abstract
The author reflects on a decline in rates of tanning bed use by adolescent girls and young women in the U.S. from 2009 to 2018. It states that legislation banning teenagers from using tanning beds resulted in 57 percent of teenage girls living in states with age restrictions by 2015. It comments on research finding a 10- to 20-year time period between peak use in tobacco use and tanning bed use and its decline. It suggests a nation-wide ban on tanning bed use among adolescents.
