- Abstract
The article focuses on French artist Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) and the cover illustration of his 1901 painting "Vegetable Garden, Overcast Morning, Eragny." There is a brief description of defining events of the early 20th century, which provides context for the life of an aged Pissarro who was producing and selling his art with renewed vigor. His move to Eragny with his family is mentioned. The painting's spiritual aspects and geometric composition are described. Pissarro's work indicates an influence from Impressionism and Pointillism on artists. His views on commercialism in art are quoted.
