- Abstract
This article discusses how Yukio Mishima received the works of Federico Garcia Lorca. Lorca's works were very successful in Japan in the fifties, and many intellectuals were very attracted to them. Mishima was also not an exception and at times commented on Lorca's work. Although the two writers have some very different styles of writing, their literary concepts have much in common. The two attempted to return to the classical tradition away from the dominant literature of the time. Mishima valued Lorca's work especially for two things: the primitive vision of the world and stylization. Indeed, these aspects are fundamental in the three rural works and provide them universal value.
