- Abstract
The article presents the summary of the research on the importance and benefits of peer helping programs in Turkey. It discusses the rationale and theories supporting the importance of peer helping programs and cites several studies on the myriad advantages of the program to the students and to school student counselors. Accordingly, peer helping programs are existing in several schools and universities in Turkey to preempt health related problems. The study concluded that peer helping programs is indeed a form of intervention and prevention, and a proper implementation of it can benefit to school counseling services.
