- Authors

- Abstract
The article reports on the collection of photographic albums in the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House in Rochester, New York. The said collection includes an untitled, undated and unattributed volume containing 75 photographs portray natives on board the ship "Bismark." Upon studying the history of Samoa, they learn that the Captain of the ship mediated a treaty signing in December 1879 between two warring native factions. Those photographs provide a case study for an examination of the relationship between history and the camera document.
