- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the accuracy of esophageal pressure swing in predicting early failure of high-flow nasal oxygen (HFNO) to treat acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF). Results show that inverse correlation between respiratory rate-oxygenation (ROX) index and nasal pressure swing was weak, and that nasal pressure swing integration as a variable of tidal nasal pressure spring shows strong correlation with nasal pressure spring, that marks the patient's inspiratory effort.
