- Abstract
Responsible international relief presents unique challenges related to ensuring a positive peri-operative patient experience with relief organizations. Some of these challenges include the patient and physician's ability to communicate effectively, limited time to develop a therapeutic patient-physician relationship, and intelligently reconciling cultural differences. Because many patients in developing countries have limited interactions with healthcare systems, a patient's experience with these relief organizations can have a lasting impact.
