- Abstract
The media always have been interested in journalistic information from the sphere of private life. Without a doubt the publication of private concerns has also created some positive developments, such as media coverage about domestic violence. But in the course of time media invasions in protected private domains became more vehement. Nowadays it's not only the tabloid press but also so-called quality media that report more frequently about private affairs. The publication of private matters happens often in a very lurid way. Journalists legitimate borderline coverage with a link to the public interest. The article deals with the ethics of journalistic research and reporting. On the basis of three case studies is shown how media have crossed ethical borderlines with their reportage.
