- Abstract
The theme of this special issue is: how should we assess and report functional outcomes of hand surgery and what are the outcomes of selected surgical procedures? Although the best decisions on the choice of treatment are made in partnership with our patients, we need good evidence for informing patients, then joint decision-making, and estimating benefits versus risks for surgeons as well as patients. PROMS better reflect the actual functional status perceived by the patients and well-being of the patients.
