- Title
Do black truffles avoid sexual harassment by linking mating type and vegetative incompatibility?
- Authors
Selosse, Marc‐André; Taschen, Elisa; Giraud, Tatiana
- Abstract
The authors discuss the link between mating type (MAT) and vegetative incompatability to avoid sexual harassment in black Perigord truffles. The authors mention that the reason why MAT locus were recruited for vegetative incompatability is because it increase the number of discriminating loci. The authors state that the resulting spatial segregation reduces the posibility of compatible cells to meet, which may explain the link between MAT and vegetative incompatability.
